Welcome to our new Senior Writers
The American Executive welcomes three new Senior Writers, including David Hastings, an English Literature expert turned business journalist, and Ed Hatch, a seasoned entrepreneur embracing a writing career and Sam Speirs, long-time lifestyle blogger and content creator. Their unique backgrounds bring fresh perspectives, blending industry knowledge and wit, aiming to inspire growth and success in American businesses.
As we embark on our new era, we are delighted to welcome three new and exceptional Senior Writers to the Team.
David Hastings
I am beyond thrilled to be joining such a prestigious publication at such an important juncture in their growth strategy. Even my wife is excited – and she rarely agrees with anything I do!
I am a bit of an outlier in the industry as I never intended to be a journalist. With an academic background in English Literature, I ‘fell’ into a junior marketing role (somewhat against my more romantic wishes), but as I grew, I also began to understand my own professional strengths. As it transpires, that is business journalism.
I have since been fortunate enough to provide freelance work for some of the most internationally famous publications in the world but I’ve never called any ‘home’. Maybe it’s the overly romantic English literature speaking right now… but I’d like to think that perhaps I’ve found it now.
Ed Hatch
I can’t say that writing business columns was how was I envisioned my twilight years but after decades of running businesses on both sides of the Atlantic, it’s a change of pace I quite enjoy.
When the opportunity to join The American Executive presented itself, it seemed like a fine way to share everything I’ve learnt over the years as an entrepreneur. I also just generally enjoy telling people what to do, so these columns will help this old timer feel better about himself. If you find a useful tidbit along the way, I’d like to think we’re both getting something out of it.
I’d love for my columns are to be called ‘Ed’s Epiphanies’, but that might have to be a slow burn war of attrition with my new Editor. Still, I think we will be friends.
Casual jokes aside, I do look forward to growing the magazine. Hopefully helping grow other American born companies along the way.
Sam Speirs
I’ll probably keep this quite brief – I adore writing lifestyle pieces, but I’m not quite so gifted with talking about myself!
To preserve my aversion to narcissism, I’ll attempt to make a subjective introduction as objective as possible.
My enthusiasm for lifestyle content was born from early adoption of social media. I’ve helped companies fly, and I’ve seen others die. Often at the sword of public opinion.
As well as content, I’m partly here to also spearhead The American Executive presence online. Not with just a two dimensional intent to share our work with more eyes, but a comprehensive plan to actively increase the benefit of involvement for all featured individuals too. I can’t wait to get stuck in!
